Overcoming The Problems 3

Regular breaks :

Remember to make time for sufficient breaks in your study schedule, otherwise the monotony may put you off or mentally tire you. Whenever you feel bogged down, take a small break, go for a walk in the park, listen to some music, unwind and then come back to your preparation with more interest and enthusiasm than before. Whatever is your idea of break, try to incorporate that into your schedule, so that it gives you chance to do something that you genuinely enjoy.

Studies have shown that taking small and short breaks help in concentrating in a more focused manner and for longer duration. Some students require frequent and shorter breaks but for others longer and lesser breaks work. Try to understand what works for you better. When you take breaks, please avoid the major distracters – TV and Internet. People often get hooked on to TV and internet and lose track of time and end up wasting lot more of their time and they had actually planned. Such behaviour and action cause feeling of guilt and sadness. It is best to moderate yourself. During shorter breaks try to relax by close your eyes for some time. When you are taking longer breaks you can try meditating, light exercising, listening to instrumental music, taking a short nap of 20 minutes, for just a tea break, or play with your pet; that will relax and invigorate you as well.
